Tripler Orthopaedic Residency consists of 5 years with rotations through all specialties of orthopaedics. While much of the work occurs at Tripler, our residents also work at other hospitals. Explore these different rotation sites below to learn more.
Tripler Army Medical Center
Our "home base" hospital
Level 2 trauma center serving 264,000 active duty soldiers and retirees and 171,000 family members
Tertiary referral center for Pacific (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, residents of Samoa and Guam)
Support forward deployed units in 40 countries throughout Pacific
The Queen's Medical Center
Level 1 trauma center serving patients on Oahu and surrounding Hawaiian islands
Rotations on General Surgery Trauma and Orthopaedic Trauma (PGY1), Orthopaedic Trauma (PGY2), and elective Total Joints (PGY5)
Shriner's Hospital for Children - Honolulu
PGY3 or PGY4 year
Dedicated pediatric orthopaedic hospital serving patients from multiple islands in the Pacific
Outreach clinics, with residents traveling to islands such as Kwajalein, Samoa, Yap, Chuuk, Fiji, Tonga, Guam, Saipan, and others
R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center
PGY3 or PGY4 year
World-renowned level 1 trauma center serving patients in MD, VA, WV, DE
Complex polytraumatized patients with multisystem injuries
Dallas Children's Hospital
PGY3 or PGY4 year
Level 1 pediatric trauma center
Strong operative experience on all common pediatric orthopaedic injuries with leaders in the field
Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children
PGY3 or PGY4 year
Residents manage complex pediatric deformities, including spinal, hip, pelvis, and limb length discrepancy cases
Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center
PGY4 or PGY5 year
Level 2 trauma center serving patients on Oahu and surrounding Hawaiian islands
